Devontae Shuler, a 6’3, 180 pound guard from Irmo high school in Columbia, South Carolina could finally be seeing his recruitment take offer.
ESPN recently released their Top 60 2017 prospects and Shuler checked in at No. 27 early on and he couldn’t have been any more pleased with it.
“It is a great feeling to know that I have two more years of basketball, it is a shocking feeling,” Shuler told Phenom Hoops Report. “But all that work I did is actually paying off.”
Shuler has three offers as of right now, with S.F. Austin, Wofford, and his most recent and biggest is USC. But that doesn’t seem to be all of the programs that have shown interest, as he has several ACC programs intrigued by him, as well as a few others around the country like Stanford, Tennessee, and Texas.
Shuler thinks that programs are finally noticing what he can do and provide on the court, as he continues to work hard on and off the court this offseason.
“I think they are noticing that I attack the basketball really well and look for my teammates. They also are noticing that I’m a leader on the court.”
One school that could be in the mix and an offer could be coming from is Wake Forest, a program that has been on him for some time now according to Shuler.
“Wake Forest came to one of my practices and told me they were really interested and would love for me to visit during the summer,” Shuler told Phenom Hoops Report.
But he is open to anyone that may come his way and would love to visit any school that offers that opportunity.
Shuler was the leading scorer for Irmo high school this past season, averaging 20+ points per game, 4.5 rebounds, and four assists per game, as he helped them to a 24-4 record last season.
