Davie County 55 East Forsyth 51
Phenom Hoop Report travelled to Mocksville, North Carolina to cover the NCHSAA 4A Central Piedmont showdown between two talented and well coached teams. Davie County entered the contest with an impressive 14-1 record while East Forsyth came in with an 11-4 record. East Forsyth led the majority of the game and took a 31-24 lead into the half. East Forsyth went stone cold from the field in the last four minutes of the game and Davie County rallied for an important conference win to remain a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Now, let’s take a closer look at the game’s outstanding players.
6’8 ’19 Owne McCormack (Davie County)

The Presbyterian signee enjoyed a solid all around game. McCormack finished with a double double (21 points and 11 rebounds), not to mention three block shots. McCormack has excellent perimeter skills, outstanding range demonstrated by knocking down four 3-pointers for the game. We were impressed with his motor, work ethic and toughness especially in the fourth quarter. McCormack runs the floor and has terrific fundamentals and possesses a high basketball IQ
6’0 ’19 Savon Brintley (East Forsyth)
Brintley is a strong attacking scoring guard. The lefty has a quick first step and was always in “strike” mode. Brintley finished with a team high 16 points and showcased toughness and grit throughout the game. Brintley plays extremely hard and gives maximum effort and energy through the game. While East Forsyth came up a tad short, Brintley gave an inspiring performance.
5’9 ’19 Troy Griggs (Davie County)
There’s a reason why Davie County is 15-1 for the season and a lot of the credit goes to their point guard, Troy Griggs. He is the consumate lead guard that does so many things well, but more importantly gets timely passes to teammates in scoring positions. We were impressed with floor leadership especially when Davie was behind. Never waivering or panicking, Griggs demonstrated self-confidence which was instrumental in the win. Griggs finished with 14 points including 10 in the second half.
