Over the weekend the CP3 Skills Academy staff hosted a free clinic at Proehlific Park in the heart of Greensboro.

The event drew in over 40 players ages five to 15 from all over the triad. Academy developers worked with youngsters on the fundamentals, dribbling, passing, and layups were emphasized. Each drill forced participants to utilize both hands, players tend to rely on their dominant hand when first learning the game.

Players were broken up by age groups and assigned to several stations, this regimen allowed Developers to get up close with players and deliver direct instruction.

Parents and other spectators filled the bleachers to find out all about the hype surrounding the Skills Academy. Lead developer Coach Jon Adams spoke with the kids about life lessons bigger than basketball throughout.

The CP3 Skills Academy focuses on developing players on and off the court; the message is deals with teaching discipline, instilling respect in all walks of life, and achieving success in the classroom. The staff of Developers have years of experience dealing with basketball, and are comprised of a few highly respected ambassadors of the game.

“ This is our first event in Greensboro, we just wanted to come out and show everyone what the academy is all about.” said Coach Mike Russell.

Russell was a local high school star and now teaches at the academy, along with his duties of running Team Winston.

After some healthy competition the event concluded with a defensive inspired relay race. All the kids left with a smile and parents were given more information in regards to acquiring memberships.
