The CP3 Rising Stars Camp brought some of the nation’s top young prospects to Bermuda Run, North Carolina, for an exciting weekend of competition and evaluation. Phenom Hoops had an excellent opportunity to watch several familiar standouts while also learning about new names who quickly made their presence felt. With talent on display throughout the event, we now take a closer look at several players who impressed and grabbed our attention.
We were eager to watch one of the top prospects at the camp in 2029 6’8 Tristan Edwards, as he will be coming to North Carolina this upcoming season and playing at Bull City Prep. It not only gave us a chance to watch a premier talent in the Class of 2029 but also learn more about his game, as he will be on display with Phenom Hoops this upcoming season.
Edwards was able to consistently shine with his overall versatility and his presence on both sides of the ball. He already has tremendous size as a prospect in his class, and plays well within what the team needs him to do. He quickly caught our attention with his presence on the defensive end, being able to block shots and shine as a defensive presence with his length and athleticism. But he was also showcasing an explosive offensive arsenal, getting and attacking the rim, showcasing his ability to create off the bounce, and be able to create opportunities for himself. His ability to do a little bit of everything on the court allowed him to impact the game in a variety of ways. Edwards’ blend of skillset, fluidity and feel, athleticism, scoring, and defensive production make him a highly intriguing prospect and one we can’t wait to learn more about when he gets the season going here in North Carolina.
Overall, Edwards’ performance at the CP3 Rising Stars Camp served as a strong introduction for a prospect who is about to become a household name in North Carolina basketball circles. With his rare combination of size, two-way impact, and feel for the game, Edwards looks primed to make an immediate splash at Bull City Prep this season. Phenom Hoops will be tracking his development closely as the 2029 prospect continues to build his profile, and we look forward to seeing how his game translates as he takes the floor in-state for the first time.
