The CP3 Rising Stars Camp brought some of the nation’s top young prospects to Bermuda Run, North Carolina, for an exciting weekend of competition and evaluation. Phenom Hoops had an excellent opportunity to watch several familiar standouts while also learning about new names who quickly made their presence felt. With talent on display throughout the event, we now take a closer look at several players who impressed and grabbed our attention.
Learning several new names, we were able to check out and learn more about 2029 6’6 Rhys Diley from Louisiana. Diley was a player who continued to earn our attention the more you watch him, as he may not grab your attention right away, but then you see the production he brings to the court, and he ends up on your standout list.
Our own, Chris Ewell, had a chance to watch him earlier on the EYBL Circuit, as he had this to say:
“Rhys Diley emerged as one of the better perimeter shot-makers during Session 3. The LivOn guard averaged 20.0 points per game while shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc. Diley consistently spaced the floor and delivered timely scoring performances, including back-to-back outings of 22 and 23 points to close the weekend. In addition to his shooting ability, Diley contributed as a secondary playmaker and rebounder while maintaining strong efficiency from the free-throw line. His confidence and scoring versatility stood out throughout the session.”
The 6’6 prospect really earned my attention with his ability to fill it up, doing so in a variety of ways but also showing a strong skillset in several other areas. As a player at his size, Diley proved to be effective on or off the ball, being able to be effective as a prospect that can handle and create, as well as playing off the ball and looking for his shot. He is comfortable in stepping out and being a strong perimeter threat with a fluid release, but can just as easily be effective with his ability to attack and create as well as surprise you with his athleticism at the rim. Diley can be an effective option from multiple positions, bringing a well-rounded presence from multiple positions but also asserts himself as a strong scoring option with his shot-making ability.
Regarded as one of the top prospects in his class for 2029 down in Louisiana, Diley’s presence, effectiveness, and willingness to compete should only carry him even more throughout his career, as college coaches should get familiar with his game sooner rather than later.
