The CP3 Rising Stars Camp brought some of the nation’s top young prospects to Bermuda Run, North Carolina, for an exciting weekend of competition and evaluation. Phenom Hoops had an excellent opportunity to watch several familiar standouts while also learning about new names who quickly made their presence felt. With talent on display throughout the event, we now take a closer look at several players who impressed and grabbed our attention.
A guard who has been receiving early recognition and you may be hearing more about on a national stage down the road is 2029 6’2 Judah Van Ewijk, a guard out in the California area. Van Ewijk has several attributes with his game that you have to like early on, as the guard shows a strong blend of playmaking, shiftiness, awareness, and scoring capabilities on the court. When sitting down watching him operate, we were so impressed with his ability to be a true playmaker, reading the defense, seeing and finding teammates, pushing and attacking out in transition, and constantly applying pressure on the defense. His ability to create and dish out to his teammates was impressive, but he could be just as effective off the bounce, attacking downhill, and scoring with touch/body control along with knocking down shots.
Van Ewijk plays with an alpha-like feel on the court, wanting and hunting the ball, and looking to make things happen. His motor was off the charts, never giving up, competing on both sides, and just looking like a young prospect ready to prove himself. He earned an offer from San Francisco a while back but what we saw, his recruitment should take off even more in the coming years and we can’t wait to see what he shows this upcoming high school season.
