Jalen Cameron has been a name that has circulated around the Pee Dee area of South Carolina for a good bit. The rising junior at West Florence High School (Florence, South Carolina) the 6’4” wing led his team in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks per game.
With averages of 20 Points, 7 Boards, 3 Assists, 2.5 Steals, and 1.5 Blocks Cameron was clearly one of the most productive high school players in the entire state.
Prior to our Grassroots Tip Off Classic, in April, our Phenom Hoops Staff wrote, “Cameron is a smooth wing that is a big name in his area. He is ready to take the next step out to the region. Cameron has a great feel for scoring from the wing area. He uses good length, and athleticism to get to the rim. However, Cameron also has great touch from beyond the arc. Expect him to open some eyes playing with UBA Red on the 17U level.”
Playing up an age group with the UBA Red 17U team, Cameron has been a stand out throughout the Summer. Including numerous high light reel finishes, Cameron finished beyond the arc and showed the ability to finish in traffic from the half court set.
Cameron carries a Towson offer, his first, from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). We look for a lot more to come, as more people put eyes on him.
College Coaches: 6’4” 2017 Jalen Cameron will be playing with his UBA Red 17s team at the CP3 Live July 17-19 in Winston Salem. Make sure you get out to see him, he is consistently one of the most productive players in each event. Towson is on to something here…
