College Basketball is underway and there are plenty of familiar faces on display at the collegiate level. One player that we believed was underrated and a strong steal when he committed, is making an early statement on the season, as sophomore Jah Short at New Orleans may be on the start of a breakout season.

Short received plenty of experience last season as a freshman, playing in 33 games and averaging 23 minutes, 6.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. He started out the season in a big way on the road against Kansas State, though ultimately falling short in an 89-65 loss.  However, Short finished the game leading the charge with 19 points in 34 minutes, shooting 7-for-12 from the floor, 2-for-4 from three, and also racking up three rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

In a short career so far, Short could be looking to make that statement, showing his ability to create well off the bounce, display bounce and athleticism in creating, and also being able to pull up with range in his game.  One can’t deny getting that experience last year was pivotal, and Short could be in for a big sophomore campaign at New Orleans and we are taking notice early on.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“He’s a phenomenal leader that sets the tone on both ends of the floor. Short was a primary scoring option throughout the weekend, able to attack the basket whenever he desired while knocking down jumpers at a solid rate. He handles the ball well and has an unselfish approach, which allows him to create for others quite often. Short plays smart, under control, and understands how to make his presence felt in transition. There’s already a lot to like about his game, so expect Short to continue developing into a two-way problem for the opposition.”
