Phenom Hoops was back in action at the Phenom Grassroots TOC, where talent was on full display from start to finish. With teams and players bringing high-level competition across every division, the depth of talent truly stood out. As always, our staff was on hand to evaluate and identify some of the premier prospects that made their mark, and we now take a closer look at a few of the standout performers who caught our attention throughout the weekend.
One of the biggest storylines from the event was the play of 2028 6’6 Kaleb Allen for Carolina Premier, and after watching him, I do believe that he should (and will) be trending upward in state rankings and national rankings. Could he be a true contender for the top spot in South Carolina though? From what we saw this weekend, Allen has a chance to do just that, especially with what he has to offer overall.
Allen is a 6’6 guard who possesses a fluid overall feel and shines with his ability to be a multi-level scorer. He can confidently attack the defense and score off the bounce, excelling well with his size and athleticism. But again, he is comfortable from a variety of levels, whether it is getting to the rim, attacking off the bounce for his mid-range game, or playing off the ball to knock down shots from outside. He excels as a creator for himself, fights through defenders, and can overpower opponents on the glass in creating extra opportunities. And he can play either the two or three spot, while also displaying the ability to guard multiple positions defensively.
Right now, it is just the start of his recruitment, but in talking with him more off the court, Allen has been receiving interest from a variety of high-major and mid-major programs. Right now, no offers are on the table, but I truly believe that will change quickly this summer as more eyes come his way.
