Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Christian Wright
Class: 2021
Committed to: Iona

What the Player Said:

What a get for this program. Watching this young man countless times, we really have to believe that Iona got a tremendous talent that went under the radar for many other schools. After battling through an injury that took him away from the game, Wright came back ready to prove everyone wrong and that he did. This is a young man that is ready to make a quick impact, as he can get it done on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he reads defenses well and really can turn it on offensively, scoring-wise. Defensively, he can strap up on defense and turn steals into offense. This was a great get for this program.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“In my opinion, he is the best 2021 guard in the state Of Georgia. One of the best in the class as far as being college ready. Makes advances reads, excellent 1-on-1 and defender. Had 18 steals in 4 games over the weekend (at Phenom LIVE). Averaged 20.4ppg for me as a junior before missing his entire senior season with a torn labrum. 1500 point scorer. Had offers from Georgia tech, TCU, St. John’s before his injury. He’s a complete guard who will be ready to play on Day 1 and is good enough to start for teams now” – Coach Rob Johnson

“Offensively though, he has a great understanding of how to score on multiple levels.  Wright can create for himself, attacking defenders and finishing through contact but also be an effective player off the ball, knocking down shots with his jumper.  He has a really good balance in his game between scoring and being a team player, finding his teammates as well.” – Patrick O’Brien

“Wright’s complete game legitimately allows him to operate within any type of role, but usually finds himself as the primary creator and offensive initiator for this group. He’s capable of breaking down defenders, attacking the basket, setting up others, or asserting his smooth jumper from the perimeter. Wright can also easily slide off-ball and immediately pose a major spot-up threat. He truly doesn’t have any glaring holes or weaknesses within his skillset, and it’s evident against various levels of competition. Wright’s recruitment should pick back up, as he would be a great addition to various programs.” – Jeff Bendel
