Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Ezra Ausar
Class: 2022
Committed to: East Carolina
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“It usually doesn’t take very long for folks to identify what separates Ezra Ausar from other similar prospects. He might appear to be a long athlete with toughness and enticing physical tools (all of which are true), but he’s also more skilled than tends to meet the eye. At 6-foot-8, Ausar can comfortably play alongside a center or operate as the lone interior piece for small-ball lineups. He’s a strong finisher with solid vision, capable perimeter shooting, and the ability to attack opposing bigs off the bounce. Though his offensive game continues to grow, Ausar’s main appeal comes through his physically imposing presence as a defender and rebounder. His fluidity, instincts, and versatility allow him to toggle between multiple positions while forcing turnovers and altering a ton of shots. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up (especially given the current landscape), as some program will net a very useful player.”
“Ausar had a great showing throughout the weekend and played some of his best basketball this weekend that I’ve personally seen. He was aggressive, he was able to create with the dribble, fight through contact, get to the line, defend multiple positions on the court, and be extremely active on the boards. Ausar really shined with Liberty Heights as a senior and after the weekend he showed, more schools could be coming his way in his recruitment.”
“He’s a game-changing athlete with the length, fluidity, and instincts to overwhelm opponents on both ends of the floor. Ausar is equally as comfortable (and reliable) at defending inside the paint or along the perimeter. Although he’s definitely a physical specimen, the forward is definitely more skilled than most people tend to acknowledge. Sure, Ausar isn’t going to breakdown opponents with five or ten-dribble combos—but why would he ever need to? He’s skilled enough to attack within a few dribbles, make quality decisions, and push as needed in rebounding situations. Ausar is also a nice finisher from the block and utilizes his rugged, high-motor presence to accumulate steals, rebounds, and blocked shots.”
“It’s easy to be enamored with Ausar, given his supreme physical gifts and trajectory over the recent months. He’s a strong, fluid, well-rounded athlete with the necessary length to finish above defenders and cause problems for opponents defensively. However, Ausar is more than just athletic specimen. He displayed feel as a passer and imposed his will as a rebounder and shot-altering presence. Ausar runs the floor well in transition and is capable of meeting opponents at the rim.”
