Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.' It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Talton Jones

Class: 2019
Committed to: Cape Fear CC

What the Player Said:

Q: What made Cape Fear the place for you and how did you inform the staff'

Jones: I have a really good bond with the coaching staff there.' They believe in me and are giving me the opportunity to get better every day and hopefully make it to the next level.' I took the time to discuss it with my family and my coaches to make sure I was doing what was best for me.' I came up to the school and told coach this is the place I want to be.

Q: What are they hoping you can bring to the program'

Jones: They like my energy and my decision making on the court.' They're excited about the attitude that I have when playing and how I can get my teammates involved in the offense and make plays happen.

Q: What will be your focus now after your decision'

Jones: I'll be focusing on getting stronger and working on the weaknesses in my game.' I'll work on developing the part of my game that can help me get to the next level.

Stats Last Season:

Jones played in 25 games last year, recording 13.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game for Trinity Christian as a senior.

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

'He certainly produces, but his defense, nonstop motor, and unspoken leadership honestly elevates him to heights that similar prospects simply cannot reach. In the last few years, arguably no player has undergone more adversity than the two-way point guard, but he's remained headstrong throughout.' ' Jeff Bendel, 2019

'There's an old saying, 'offense sells tickets and defense wins the games.' For the 6'3 unsigned senior, he does a little bit of both. Jones finished with an efficient 12 points going 4-4 from the free throw line, but it was his stellar defensive play that made the biggest impression. Jones had a game-high four steals and disrupted Prolific Prep on numerous occasions. One thing that is for certain, Talton Jones has become Mr. Reliable in the big games.' ' John Wall Invitational in 2018

'People that expect massive scoring totals and flashy crossovers aren't going to be content with Jones' style, but truly he's the type of player that consistently wins games. He has a vital two-way role on this team and embraces their concept extremely well. Jones and Greg Gantt are the best defensive duo in the state, and it's not really close. He can shut down the point of attack and force an abundance of turnovers while actively switching across two to three positions and outrebounding his assignment. Offensively, Jones is smart and takes care of the ball. He only takes quality shots and looks to create opportunities for others on a regular basis. As far as real two-way players go, Jones should be regarded as one of the best at his position, especially in North Carolina.' ' Bojangles Bash in 2018
