Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Dante Oliver
Class: 2023
Committed to: East Tennessee State

What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:

“He’s a long, wiry, fairly well-rounded wing prospect with the ability to do a little bit of everything on the court. Oliver can assume ball-handling duties as needed or find opportunities as an off-ball threat. He’s a useful cutter and makes his presence consistently felt as a defender. Oliver can force turnovers by intercepting passing lanes, and displays an understanding of how to make plays in transition. He’s unselfish and looks to make hustle plays whenever possible. Coach Adams on Oliver: “Dante is a solid player with nice upside. He can affect all facets of the game within the flow of the action. Provides good energy and displayed a positive attitude. Coachable and worked well with his teammates.” Oliver enjoyed a quality showing at camp and should be a major contributor for Asheville Christian over these next two seasons.”

“Another prospect coming into North Carolina that we got to see over the summer with his new team, Oliver comes from a basketball background and looks like a flourishing talent to be reckoned with in NC.  He is a 6’5, long prospect that has a tremendous feel and understanding of the game but you see that there is still stuff left in the take in what he could be at the end.  He creates well off the dribble, uses his length well to rise over defenders and score from multiple levels, and is terrific in getting downhill and showcasing good body control.  He is a rising name and think he could be a name people come quite familiar with around the area.”

“Oliver is a new name that quickly caught our eyes in warm-ups and only continued to intrigue us with his play on the court during throughout the games.  The 6’5 long, lengthy prospect is going to be one to really watch and learn more about because he displayed a nice feel for the game and is just coming back off an injury that took him out all spring.  Oliver will still need to put on strength and weight to get him ready for the next level but he did an excellent job in creating off the dribble, getting around defenders, and either finishing around the rim (through or around contact) or rising up and knocking down shots.”

“Given the recent injury to Asheville Christian’s primary option, folks should expect to see an uptick in production from Oliver. He’s a long, wiry wing prospect who highlights various flashes of creation skills and the ability to knock down shots. Oliver possesses mobility and provides consistent effort as a defender and two-way rebounder. He can operate with the ball in his hands, but typically finds opportunities as a cutter or spot-up threat. Oliver attacks well in transition and looks to make the extra pass whenever available. As previously mentioned, it would be very unsurprising to see him being more and more involved throughout the remainder of the season.”
