Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Dylan Blake
Class: 2020
Committed to: East Carolina
What the Player Said:
PHR: What is it like now to be saying you will be a Pirate and getting that decision behind you?
Blake: It feels great, I can’t wait to rep that purple and gold. It was a hard decision but I’m glad to have made the choice I did, it was the best fit for me.
PHR: What did you tell the staff and what was their reaction when you informed them?
Blake: I told them that ECU is where I want to be and I will work my butt off to earn everything and hopefully contribute and help our team win games. They were excited to hear that I was going there and are ready to get after it as soon as basketball starts back up again.
PHR: What are you hoping you can bring to the court for them?
Blake: They know I can shoot the ball and they are hoping I can come there and get strong and develop the other aspects of my game such as my defense and my finishing. They are hoping I can bring energy and hustle to the team. Just contribute in any way I can towards the team whether it is on the court or not.
Stats Last Season:
This past season, Blake averaged 28.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.2 steals per game, helping First Flight to a 20-9 overall record.
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“Dylan Blake may just go down as one of the best shooters in the state of all time. Broad statement, yes, but Blake has proven time and time again that he has unlimited range, has a quick release, and proper shooting mechanics/fundamentals that has allowed him to be one of the leading scorers in the state averaging 28.7 PPG.” – Rick Lewis in 2020
“The more people that watch Blake perform, the more people walk away in sheer awe of his abilities. He’s one of the most dominant night-to-night performers throughout North Carolina, constantly a threat to go for forty, lead his team to hundred points, or anything in between. At this point, Blake is simply is criminally underrated at everything except scoring. Even the blind can identify his offensive flair and three-point bombs from the logo. Those who examine a little closer quickly notice his toughness, playmaking, rebounding instincts, and defensive prowess, all the things necessary to make him a qualified Division I prospect.” – Jeff Bendel in 2019
