Coachk Mills midseason reviews:  my travels took me to Columbia South Carolina this weekend.  Host city of the Bojangles invitational tournament.  A national tournament that bring some of the top basketball teams from all over the United States. And also features some of South Carolina’s top schools.   While in town this morning I had the opportunity to drop by Dreher high school. And follow up on two South Carolina top 80 stand outs.  In this report we take a look at the heartbeat of the blue Devils a triple threat combination that has been lethal this year.

# 3 Landon Harrison 6’2 combo guard. Class of 2021 Dreher High School Columbia South Carolina

Landon is a small forward who passes the ball and sees the game as a point guard. When he is on the floor his team has great ball movement just because of his understanding of the game. He can really get his teammates good shots at a high level which has been a key part of the Blue Devils success this season.  Landon Has a good mid-range jump shot, that he knocks down with consistency.  He has a long and very athletic frame. This allows him to be a very good on-ball defender and defend multiple positions.  Definitely part of a threesome that makes the Blue Devils click.

# 21 Devario Sheppard 6’4
Class of 2021
Dreher High school Columbia South Carolina

Devario is a scorer! He has a gift for putting the ball in the basket. He is a solid shooter with his feet set out to 24 feet. He is a rangy long wingman with loads of potential and versatility in his game. Right now, his best offense comes inside of about 15 feet. He’s comfortable using little runners and pull-ups in his game. This young southpaw possesses tons of athleticism with outstanding court vision able to finish in transition with either his left or right hand. Devario is a combo guard that could project as a lead guard at the next level. Devario continues to show growth since we last evaluated him in the South Carolina top 80.

# 4 Marvin Hires 6’4 Forward/Wing
Class of 2022
Dreher High school Columbia South Carolina

Hires is highly skilled for his age and size with a super soft touch and high a compact release. His bread and butter are in short pick-and-pop action to about 18 feet but he also has equally soft hands and touch around the rim with an ever developing jumpshot. What makes hires so special is that at 6’4 1/2  and 227 pounds he is probably one of the best ball handlers on his team.  His ability to handle the ball in the open court and see the floor are scary. He is actually a coast to coast threat every time he grabs a rebound. This makes him extremely dangerous.  And allows the Blue Devils to push the ball in transition and put maximum pressure on any defense. This is not the first time we have reported on Hires, in fact, he was a stand out in the South Carolina Phenom 150, and again caught our attention at the SC Top 80. His game and his body continue to grow. Very talented and so young. And the third piece to the Blue Devils triple threat.
