On Wednesday, Christian Reeves officially announced his decision to commit to Chris Mack and the College of Charleston. The 7-footer from Charlotte, North Carolina had previous stops at Duke and Clemson before entering the portal earlier this spring. In addition to his size and experience, Reeves should bring an interesting dynamic to the Cougars.

Reeves previously attended Phenom Hoops’ camps, high school events, and travel ball tournaments. We previously stated, “He’s a long, wiry, fluid post prospect with rebounding prowess and phenomenal rim-protection instincts. Reeves blocks shots with regularity, runs the floor effectively in transition, and finishes with soft touch around the rim. He can also knock down perimeter jumpers at a nice clip. Coach Bernardi on Reeves: “Every time I see Christian, he is getting better. He played tougher, stronger, and more assertive this weekend than when I had ever him. He has such natural timing blocking shots and protecting the rim. He is a great kid that understands how to impact the game on all levels. Che Roth and Cannon are excellent developers and winners, so Christian will undoubtedly continue to improve.”

He’s a long, fluid athlete with legitimate size and plenty of upside still remaining on both ends of the floor. Reeves is a low-maintenance big man who doesn’t necessarily require touches to impact the game. His interior presence allows him to alter shots on the glass and utilize his length to secure rebounds. Reeves runs the floor well in transition and is capable of finishing above the rim or around the basket.

Although his averages don’t pop off the page, there is definite value in what Reeves could potentially bring to this level. His experience alone should make him a meaningful asset in the locker room; he knows how to be a steady, professional presence on and off the court. That being said, don’t be surprised if Reeves’ production sees an uptick during the upcoming season.
