Carmel Christian Tip-Off Christian Event Link
The week is finally here high school basketball fans… The season is here for Phenom Hoop Report and we are kicking off the high school year in a big way in Charlotte this weekend with the Carmel Christian Tip-Off Classic.
With a loaded schedule and a full breakdown, which can be found here (Click Here), we start our coverage by break down a few teams at the event.
2020 6’9 Garrett Hien (Furman)
Hien is one of the biggest steals for his class in the state of North Carolina and will be a pivotal part of this team, a year in which expectations are high. He has a long frame but versatility is the name of his game, as he can stretch the floor from three, run in transition, and score inside the arc in an array of ways. He continues to get stronger and has great touch as well.
2020 6’8 Cheick Traore (Youngstown State)
Traore is a monster down low in the paint. Everyone knows about his size and strength, as he is built like a rock and uses that to his advantage. But he also attacks the boards, defenders well with his mobility, and is the ultimate teammate. There is so much to like about his game and he has no issue making sacrifices for his team or be a focal point in the offense down low.
2021 6’3 Trae Benham
Benham has really grown and developed his game and now, he is looking to be one of a few experienced guards for Concord First Assembly. Benham continues to showcase that he can defend and shoot the ball well but he also provides another ball-handler and sees the floor well, making the right decision on the court.
2020 5’11 Isaac Boothe
The guard that helps run the show, Boothe plays under control and with a great understanding of how to initiate the offense. A high-IQ type of point guard, Boothe makes the right decisions and looks to find his teammates, as well as capitalizing on opportunities to score. He never seems to be out of control and a true floor general.
This just names a few players to watch at the event but this team is deep and has players that can come off the bench and provide positive minutes. 2020 Lloyd Latta, 2021 Kelvin Perry, 2021 Javian Cannady, 2021 Tyler Fearne, 2021 Jakub Cieminski, and others could all provide significant minutes as well when called upon.
