Carmel Christian will have a different look this upcoming season, but there is plenty of reason for optimism with several new faces expected to play key roles. The Cougars have added talent, size, versatility, and leadership throughout the roster, creating an intriguing mix of proven production and emerging prospects. While 2028 Jermier Nelson is expected to take on a major role as the team’s floor general, several other newcomers and rising talents have already started to make their presence felt this summer. As Carmel Christian continues to build chemistry heading into the season, these are a few names that could help lead the charge for one of North Carolina’s most intriguing teams.
2028 Jermier Nelson
We talked extensively about Nelson recently this week about what we expect from Nelson, as he should be the leader of this group. A strong scoring and playmaking guard who has a chance to instantly make his presence felt in North Carolina.
2027 Braylen Hill
Hill will be able to bring senior leadership and toughness, and will be such a competitor on the court for this team. He is able to play off the ball and knock down shots, as well as be able to create off the bounce and finish. Love his overall scrappy nature on the court, who should impact the game on both sides of the ball.
2030 Grant McGee
Talk about a freshman that left a lasting impression this June, McGee has a chance to be an instant impact player for this team. A 6’6 prospect that is long, athletic, and active on the glass, McGee understands how to make an impact in finishing at the rim, creating extra opportunities, and being a forward that can flourish with upside.
2027 Zion Melville
Melville is another 6’6 prospect that brings value to this team. He brings length and versatility, as well as senior leadership. He should be able to provide value to the court, being a complementary piece that can be an offensive presence, help on the glass, and be used in a variety of other ways.
