The stretch 5 position is the new thing in basketball. The likes of Myles Turner, Anthony Davis, Boogie Cousins, Karl Anthony Towns, and others are changing the complexion of the game. However, there will always be a place in basketball for a big man, who you can throw the ball to in the paint and he can go get a basket.

Saint James Bryce Golden is this type of throwback post. He understands angles and base positioning. He has well-honed footwork and very soft hands that are very passer friendly. The most impressive part of Golden's game this past week was his area rebounding. He seemed to be able to gather everything in his area, with two hands. He immediately chested the ball, elbows out, and delivered a pin point outlet pass. He did a great job of securing the basketball.

Golden comes from good basketball stock, his brother Grant is currently a freshman at Richmond. However, the two have different skill sets with one thing in common, they are both very skilled and fundamental players.

Golden's recruitment took a major jump this summer, going from solid low-major to mid-major stuff to Power 5, major basketball. Currently Golden is ranked in the 60s, nationally, by multiple recruiting services.

Standing at a listed 6'9', the junior carries offers from Clemson, NC State, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Penn State, and others. NC State and Clemson were sitting front and center for multiple games of his at Phenom's Joe Miller Invitational.

Just in the beginning of his recruitment, expect more to come. It's not the flashiest game, but it's incredibly productive.
