We continue to highlight players that really stood out week to week at the Hoop State Fall League presented by Phenom Hoops. The stars were out and players were making a name for themselves. We wanted to highlight players that will bring tremendous value and be key pieces to their teams this year but might not always get the spotlight like they deserve. Phenom Hoops is here to change that, as these players stood out in Week 2 down at Cox Mill.

2025 Mason Zepp (Weddington)

Weddington looks strong early on and with key pieces gone from last year, they are needing others to step up to help out KJ Younger.  One player who played really well in Week 2 was 2025 Mason Zepp, knocking down open shots with good range, showing some bounce to his game, and being more assertive on the court. He had a very good season last year, and he is one that is looking to take another step in his game. Good form and confident shot-maker.

2026 Henry Smith (Marvin Ridge)

Marvin Ridge has a nice blend of talent overall, and this year’s team looks like a complete team effort. One player though that I liked watching was 2026 6’4 Henry Smith, as he plays a key role for this team around the basket, on the glass, and being that physical presence.  Smith loves to do the dirty work and competes on both ends, and really liked his overall production.

2026 Tyson Durant (Hickory Ridge)

Hickory Ridge has a ton of young talent, especially at the guard position, so it was interesting to watch Durant in action. A smaller guard who was able to grab my attention with his ability to penetrate and create, push in transition well, make plays, and really help in getting his teammates involved as well as finding at times ways to get inside the defense off the dribble.

2025 Dario Williams (Gaston Christian)

Gaston Christian will need players to step up and replace some key production from last year, and Williams could be a guy to help contribute. He has great size at 6’5 but is comfortable in bringing value in several areas, whether it is helping on the boards, spreading out the defense and scoring from the perimeter, or using his size to guard multiple positions.

2025 Josh Yates (Lake Norman)

We wrote about Yates last week, but we are here again to reiterate his importance and what he provides. Just another guard that is tough as nails, having Yates and Arnold on the court makes this a tough team. Yates is at his best when he can showcase his driving abilities and scoring around defenders, doing an excellent job in finishing around defenders and at different angles. But he can hurt you from the perimeter as well, is a scrappy defender, and gives this team another guard to lead the offense.
