On the inaugural edition of Brandon’s Bucket Team we’ll look at a young floor general out of the triad Caleb Burgess.
Burgess showed flashes of potential in limited action last year as a Sophomore on Westridge Academy, but this summer he’s ’really blown up on the travel ball circuit and attracted attention from some big time programs. Assistants from Providence were impressed with his play at Big Shots Charlotte event and his performance at our July Exposure events attracted even more suitors (Clemson, ECU, and Wake).
Burgess can run the show and make guys around him better, if you need a bucket Burgess can score effectively from all three levels. What really sticks out about Burgess is his poise in late game situation, there is a serious clutch factor here and the kid proved to be a cold-blooded assassin when he took games over late at the Southern Jam this past weekend.
This guy will be one of the better point guards around the triad and possibly the entire Hoop State. Burgess handles the rock well and utilizes the entire floor to make plays; he rarely commits turnovers and always looks to advance the ball.
Westridge plays a tough schedule this season including a mega matchup with Oak Hill; it’ll be a big test to see where Burgess stacks up amongst the nation’s elite.
Keep an eye out for the next edition of “BBT” until then you guys stay up and stay blessed!
