The month of June is always a fun one for Phenom Hoops and our scouts, as we get an early viewing of what teams will be looking like this upcoming high school season and earn a few early storylines as well. The Phenom Team Camp brought many topics to talk about, as we look to recap a few of them from what we saw on the court.
Bluffton is coming off a strong season last year in which they finished 24-5, and though the Bobcats are losing some key pieces, this is a group that could once again make plenty of noise down in South Carolina.
When talking about this roster, you have to talk about the depth once again. This roster will have. Two players really impressed at the Phenom Team Camp and clearly looked like two leaders on the court. 2028 Max Leroux and 2028 Kiedis Smith were two highly effective weapons on the floor, with Leroux bringing size, scoring, and IQ, while Smith brings versatility with his size and feel. Leroux was highly impressive with his ability to score from multiple levels, creating with his size, knocking down shots, playing well off the ball, and making smart reads on the court. Smith was just as effective as a versatile forward, having a strong feel with the ball in his hands, making plays off the bounce, being able to score inside and out, and playing multiple positions on the floor. Both really captured the eyes of our scout, but this is a roster that returns others that had a big season last year and should only continue to do so this season.
Both 2027 Ethan Foster and 2027 Malcolm Gordon had strong seasons last year, averaging double-digit points and garnering a lot of experience. They are able to score, rebound well, and bring versatility to the court, as the Bobcats look to have plenty of weapons this upcoming season. There was a lot to like about this roster, as Bluffton has a chance to make another strong run this season.
