Although the football season is about to begin, it appears that Miami will also have a big weekend in basketball, as two of the top prospects in the country are set to visit the Canes.

2026 Dylan Mingo and 2026 Deron Rippey Jr., two Top 10 prospects in the country, have announced that they will be on campus this weekend, getting a chance to check out the new staff down there.  This is a program that has been making serious waves early on with the new coaching staff, as Jai Lucas and company aren’t wasting any time in looking to land big-time talent.

We dive into both of these prospects’ games, and if Miami can land either one of them, what a statement that would make for this program and its future.

2026 5-Star Dylan Mingo

Mingo is one that you can’t help but love his overall game. And with his unique length and skill set, it is easy to see why he is a 5-star prospect and highly ranked.  Some list him as a point guard, while others categorize him as a combo guard… No matter how you look at it, Mingo is one who can flourish as a true scoring threat and creates such havoc as a 6’6 prospect. At his size, Mingo does a great job in showcasing his scoring capabilities; get the ball in his hands and he can make plays, whether it is creating his shot, attacking the rim, driving and kicking, or just finding other ways to be active offensively. He brings versatility, being able to handle the ball as well as play off the ball, as he finds ways to bring value in so many areas.

2026 5-Star Deron Rippey Jr.

Rippey Jr. is one that I’m very high on, and it hasn’t been a secret at all, as I’ve written countless articles about how impressed I am with him. Rippey is a true premier point guard that you want running the show.  He has athleticism, excellent court vision and awareness, is a true playmaker, and has elite vision in finding teammates, scores well off the bounce, is confident from behind the arc and with his overall jumper, and makes an impact on the defensive end. He offers so much as a floor general that whoever gets him, it is going to be hard not having him lead your team early on.  He has shown time after time why he is the top true point guard in my eyes, and one of the top overall recruits in the nation.
