Williams, a Houston native, has been a name on the radar since he broke out at the Spring 2013 NC Phenom 150 camp. Since that camp he was immediately placed on Top 100 lists and his recruitment was tracking at a high level.

On Monday, Williams ended his recruitment as he chose to attend Missouri State University, in the Missouri Valley Conference. Williams goes to school at Voyager Academy, where is brother Harry coaches. He is a lengthy guard that is a sneaky athlete, has a solid wing handle, and can get on a roll as a shot maker.

As we mentioned, Williams utilized the Phenom platform to breakout. Since then he has attended multiple events, let’s see what was written:

2013 Spring NC Phenom 150 Camp
6’5 2016 Greg Williams of the Genesis Academy in Lynchburg, VA
Greg is one of the top young prospects in his class for the region and you will be hearing more about this talented young prospect. He has the length, athleticism and skill to be a high major prospect. Coach Harry Williams stated, “Greg has a great skill set and high level understanding of the game. He has the intangibles to be a lockdown defender but still needs to give a more consistent effort in that area. He has sneaky athletic ability and plays at a very controlled pace. He shoots the ball well but penetrates to take advantage to create for others first and then himself.” Without question, it is hard to believe Greg is just a freshman and a name to put in your SIM card. The young man has the blend of athleticism, skill and a work ethic to boot.

2014 Phenom Hoops Challenge
Greg Williams, 6’5, SG/SF, CP3 All-Stars, 2016- A Houston native, Williams made the move to Virginia at Genesis Prep and hasn’t looked back. He was tough to stop attacking the rim, showed off above average vision for a wing, and a smooth jumper to go with it. This big time athlete turned a lot of heads throughout the season at Genesis and will continue to do so with CP3.

The Name
While 6’4 Junior Greg Williams suffered a bit of an Achilles tweak, the growth in his game was evident. The Houston native is blessed with natural explosion, which allows him to burst to the rim with purpose. Ranked by most in the 75-150 range in the 2016 class, Williams is playing more off the ball now which is allowing him to get more North-South in his game.

After taking three (3) in their 2015 class, Williams is the first commitment in Missouri State’s 2016 haul.

Make sure you catch Williams and his Genesis Academy team mates take on Greenfield School in the Phenom National Showcase on November 13/14.
