Robertson is an electric young star and a phenomenal athlete. Clay is a triple-threat scoring machine. He has a beautiful touch from deep with unlimited range who can deliver from anywhere on the floor. Clay is explosive off the bounce and a beast in transition. With some nasty handles, Clay punishes defenders and keeps them off balance, and with his quick pull-up ability it’s almost unfair. Can’t sleep on his passing ability either. Really good court vision to find open or cutting teammates. He also can be a lockdown defender.
In the AAU session, Clay blew up out there and put on a dazzling display of his talent. He took his defense to another level, which in my mind was the biggest improvement and what I challenged him the most on. Boy, did he deliver' I watched Clay become the leader of that loaded WV Hustle team. Clay averaged 21.3pts, 6.2rebs, 5.4asts, and 3stls per game, setting the tone for a monster upcoming session. Just watched him shine bright among the best players in WV at the WV Prep Showcase, averaging 13pts, 3rebs, 3asts, and 2stls in limited minutes.
Clay averaged 18.5pts, 4.7rebs, 4.5asts, 4 stsl per game last year. The numbers don’t lie, this stud is developing into a monster. Clay has the goal to break the 1000 pay barrier this year in route to a state championship. What sets Clay apart is his energy and willingness to do whatever is needed at the moment. Coaches should know Clay is a prolific shooter and nasty defender too. A true leader on and off the court, this young dust is the truth. My assessment is D1 without a doubt. You must see this talent for yourself.
