6'1 2020 Myles Tate
Dorman (Spartanburg, SC)

Tate is one of the top prospects in South Carolina's 2020 class. In fact, the current 6'1' sophomore at Dorman High School is rated as South Carolinas number two overall prospect in the class, according to Phenom Hoop Report.

Tate is a high-level guard who plays an incredibly exciting brand of basketball. One that keeps the fans captivated and one that also makes his teammates better on both ends of the floor. He plays with great pace on the ball and has a blazing speed that is like he is just burst out of a cannon. Tate also has range that goes out to 30 feet, with consistency. He is an offensive juggernaut.

Playing as the 6th man on last season's 5A state championship, Tate averaged 8.7 points per game as a freshman. With all the ball skills that he has, he plays with an unmatched mental toughness that he exudes throughout his team.

As with most of the top prospects in South Carolina, Tate is an alum of the prestigious South Carolina top 80. In this setting, the states best are brought together to compete under one roof. After his performance in that event we wrote,'Next, we look at a very special prospect that has been on the Phenom radar for quite some time, Myles Tate. He's a point guard that is able to excel on either side of the ball and has the ability to be among the most talented players in the state of South Carolina. Offensively, Tate will get what he wants, as he's able to shoot the ball incredibly well and has legitimate 30-foot range. However, he doesn't have to shoot, as Tate is smart and can blow by defenders with ease given his blinding quickness, enabling him to finish strong at the rim or make the easy pass. Somehow, his defense matches his offense, making Tate an outright elite prospect. On the defensive side, Tate uses his quickness and nose for the ball so well; he has long arms and they frequently intercept passing lanes for easy steals. Next in his development process is continuing to be a hard worker and good student, as it will give him unlimited options to choose from at the next level. Coach Waters on Tate: 'Myles is a shifty, quick, balanced guard who can create his own shot. I see him as a potentially great pick-and-roll guard; he can dribble with either hand quite well and has a silky-smooth jumper. Myles gets off shots quite and balanced; Kemba Walker-like.' Tate already has a variety of high-level programs coming his way, so it'll be interesting to see how he comes off a state championship and a huge summer campaign this upcoming season at Dorman.'

Now into his sophomore season, Tate is the leader on this team. The ball will be in his hands and he will be the one leading Dorman High School on their quest to defend their state title. So far this season, through four games, Tate is the team's leading scorer at 11.3 per game. He is shooting 45% from the field and 100% from the free throw line. He is also averaging 3.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Tate is a tough on the ball defender, another way that his blazing speed and basketball IQ shows on the court. He is averaging 2.3 steals per game, typically guarding the opposing teams best ball handler.

Simply put, Tate is a winner. His play is top of the line alone, but its his ability to make those around him better that really puts him at another level.

As South Carolina's #2 prospect in the 2020 class, expect Tate's offer sheet to explode and it will only be a matter of time before that happens. As for now, get in the gym and watch Tate, he is an absolutely exciting player.
