Caldwell Academy has been in a strong position over the years with a high-powered offense that could produce points and dynamic guards. Now, there has been a shift under new head coach Corey Muirhead and company, with new names looking to emerge as primary weapons for this year’s team. We dive into a few names that look to lead for this year’s team, but this is a program that has plenty of balance as they look to continue the recent success of the program.
2028 Trevor Holland
Holland, who is a 6’4 athletic guard, will have a chance to really shine for this group. He is a strong guard that can get downhill, bring strong athleticism in getting to the rim and finishing strong, but also being just as effective from multiple levels on the court. Holland can finish through contact, be physical on defense, and be a playmaker out in the open floor.
2027 Mac Atkinson
Atkinson will help with size as a 6’7 prospect, utilizing his length and ability to knock down shots from a variety of levels. Atkinson will be able to help in a variety of areas, but also open up the offense with his length. With him and Solheim on the floor, Caldwell should be able to match up with teams of size but also spread the floor offensively.
2028 Roman Solheim
Solheim is a growing name here in North Carolina, but one that has clearly offered production on the court. Both offensively and defensively, Solheim finds ways to be an impact player on the court and should carry that to Caldwell. He brings size, fluidity, and touch around the basket, as well as being a presence on the glass. Defensively, he alters shots well and can rebound/push the ball in transition if needed. He was a standout at Northwest and should carry that over to this program.
2027 CJ Jones
Jones is another guard who has a chance to make a clear jump and impact in leading this team. He is a well-rounded guard who has a blend of physicality, scoring ability, and playmaking. Jones has proven over the years to be a steady presence, but he will be relied on to step up even more as a senior guard to lead this year’s team.
While Caldwell Academy may have a different look this season, there is still plenty to like about what this roster brings to the table. The blend of experienced pieces, emerging talent, positional size, and versatility should allow the staff to put together a competitive group capable of making noise once again. Holland, Atkinson, Solheim, and Jones will all be key pieces, but this is a team that appears to have quality depth throughout the roster. As these players continue to build chemistry and settle into expanded roles, don’t be surprised if Caldwell Academy once again finds itself in the mix as one of the intriguing teams to watch in North Carolina this season.
