Lady Phenom Hoops will have their eyes on so many prospects around the state of North Carolina, and we were able to learn more about prospects at the Lady Top 80. A player that garnered the attention of our scouts was 2027 KaLeiya Jones from North Meck.
Jones made an early impression with her ability to create and control the game off the bounce. The 2027 guard showcased strong instincts and confidence handling the ball, consistently breaking down defenders and getting into the paint. She displayed the ability to score efficiently around the rim while also reading the floor to create for her teammates. Jones’ poise, quickness, and natural feel as a playmaker highlight her growing potential, and as she continues to develop her all-around game, she’s shaping up to be a key piece for North Meck moving forward.
Top 80 Evaluation:
“Next, KaLeiya Jones is a 5-foot-6 prospect in the Class of 2027. Given her reliable, impactful presence on both ends of the floor, it was easy to appreciate everything he brought to this team. Jones is a polished creator, both for herself and others, with the ability to apply consistent pressure from all levels. She also defends with energy and aggressiveness. Next in her development process is working on her ability to move without the ball, as it would open her up to even more scoring opportunities. Coach Ewell on Jones: “KaLeiya has good size and strength on the perimeter and doesn’t hesitate to shoot it. Confident ball-handler and willing passer. Rebounds well for her position. She was at her best attacking the rim in transition but has the skill to create her own look at times.” Jones did a lot of things well during camp and should be a key piece for North Meck over the next two seasons.”
