The South Carolina Sophomore 40 brought together some of the state’s most promising young talents, and the Class of 2028 certainly didn’t disappoint. A mix of athletic guards, emerging wings, and versatile forwards left their mark throughout the event. Here are a few who stood out:
6’2 Samarion Glenn (Lexington)
Glenn brought an aggressive scoring mindset, showcasing his ability to impact the game both on and off the ball. He created shots for himself, attacked in transition, and converted at a high rate. When he got going, he was difficult to contain—especially with his ability to heat up quickly.
6’0 Malik Brunson (Keenan)
Brunson was in attack mode from the jump. He consistently put pressure on defenders, finishing through traffic and showing impressive body control around the rim. His ability to play with strength and composure on both ends made him a tone-setter for his team.
6’3 Bryson Schofield (Keenan)
Schofield impressed with his toughness and efficiency around the basket. He rebounded well, established strong post position, and finished with touch in traffic. His physical presence and willingness to battle on the interior stood out throughout the day.
6’6 Kiedis Smith (Hilton Head)
Smith showcased legit floor-spacing ability and a versatile offensive skill set. The 6’6 wing moved well without the ball to find open space, confidently knocked down perimeter jumpers, and flashed a smooth, fluid athleticism. With his size, shooting touch, and motor, Smith is a name to track closely in South Carolina’s 2028 class.
6’3 Preston Heffner (Catawba Ridge)
Heffner used his length and athleticism to create mismatches. He ran the floor, finished above the rim, and found teammates with smart passes in transition. His two-way activity and unselfishness helped him consistently stand out.
6’1 Ayden Leith (Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach)
Leith impressed with his steadiness and ability to contribute in every area. A dependable, well-rounded player who understands the game, he rebounded, defended, moved the ball, and found scoring chances within the flow of the offense. His unselfishness and maturity were clear strengths.
6’2 Isaiah Addison (Wilson)
Addison made a strong impression with his versatility and competitive edge. The 6’2 guard has good size, athleticism, and a natural knack for making plays. He attacked off the bounce, created scoring opportunities for others, and brought toughness on the defensive end. A true two-way contributor who impacts winning.
