Although the Top 80 and Freshman 40 camps both have a considerable amount of talent slated to attend, the Sophomore 40 is arguably the most loaded of the three. The vast majority of top prospects will be on display, but it’ll be fascinating to see who will separate themselves in a setting like this. Camps are somewhat unusual for real analysis, but they certainly highlight a lot about an individual and their willingness to compete or mesh with unknown teammates. The most competitive players always seem to find success, even if the scoring might not reflect this notion.

The Big Three

Given the fact that Xavier Hall, Kaharri Coleman, and Aaron Parker are all committed to attend, camp should be an absolute show. Each of these three have consistently turned heads over the last six to twelve months and earned their lofty status, both in terms of in-state rankings and national relevance. Hall is the most dominant and overwhelming right now, which makes sense since he’s a strong, powerful, aggressive big man with touch, mobility, and the ability to anchor the paint on both ends of the floor. Coleman is a highly explosive floor general with amazing size, pace, vision, and instincts to get wherever he wants with the ball in his hands. Parker continues to rapidly trend upward as a long, explosive wing with a blossoming skillset and the ability to fly around to wreak havoc on both ends of the floor. Ultimately, these guys should put on a show.

Don’t Forget About Chase Smith, Travis Cooper, Ayo Awosanya, and Brelyn Moses

Although players frequently go through ebbs and flows, it’s difficult to shake consistent production. That being said, the names above were four of the top five scorers from Freshman 40 Camp last year (Chacho Womack excluded). Each guy already entered high school with an impressive level of polish within their identity, and the camp setting only further reinforced that fact. Smith kept getting better throughout the course of the high school season and should be even more prepared to dominate one year later. Cooper already had great physical tools but is another guy who continues to trend upward. Awosayna and Moses were arguably two of the most physically advanced pieces from last year, so it’s easy to see them having no issue finding production. In addition to the top returning scorers, who else could emerge?
