Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or see a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player. Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Williams Itumo
Class: 2026
Committed to: Jacksonville State
Thoughts on Commitment:
Though we have had just a little time to learn about 2026 6’10 Williams Itumo, he has left a lasting impression on our scouts the last few months. I believe this is a nice piece for Jacksonville State, especially with what I’ve seen out of his game. Itumo brings tremendous energy and a strong motor, as he never takes a play off, competes on every play, and talks well on defense. He brings size that allows him to alter shots defensively and get on the glass. And on the offensive side, Itumo shows that he can be a strong finisher around the basket and still has potential left for development.
What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:
“This is a massive reason why Williams Itumo should expect to see a visible uptick in his recruitment. The 6-foot-10 big man recently arrived at Winston-Salem Christian and has the tools to bring a completely new dynamic to the Lions. It’s easy to envision what an interior piece with legitimate size and athleticism brings to the table, but there’s certainly more than meets the eye. So much of Itumo’s impact comes through his nonstop motor. It starts with his ability to control the defensive glass and create havoc or second-chance opportunities on offense. Itumo’s general activity forces opponents to constantly account for his presence on both ends of the floor. He consistently boxes out to secure position and grab rebounds while also regularly flying around for putback opportunities. Itumo will need to improve as a finisher, particularly on the offensive glass, but has the ability to score around the basket if necessary. His main source of offense comes from lobs and running the floor in transition. That being said, Itumo is the type of player who really doesn’t need touches to impact a game. He has obvious appeal as a low-maintenance big man with a high motor, phenomenal rebounding instincts, and destructive defensive presence. Itumo blocks shots at a quality rate, but seemingly alters everything around the basket. His displays aggressiveness and toughness when flying around to create problems for opponents. Again, any offensive production he provides is simply a bonus.”
“The newest addition to the Dub Salem group, Itumo, is long, athletic, and wreaks havoc on both ends of the floor. He’s a capable finisher who primarily impacts the game through his nonstop motor, physicality, and athletic interior presence. Itumo naturally outworks opponents to control the glass and consistently position himself for second-chance opportunities. He makes hustle plays at a constant rate, runs the floor hard in transition, and finishes above the rim. Itumo also protects the rim at a high level and alters a ton of shots around the basket.”
“Atumo has come into North Carolina and really made himself a name early on this season. The 6’10 big man has a blossoming offensive game, and there is still plenty of room for improvement. But what he does provide is a strong, physical presence around the basket, one that can finish at the rim, is engaged and active on the glass, and moves well on the defensive end. What immediately stands out with his game is his energy and motor, playing so hard on either side of the ball and being a great overall teammate. But he showed that he can be a big force down in the paint both offensively and defensively.”
