Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or see a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player. Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Dionte Neal
Class: 2026
Committed to: UNCG

Why UNCG Was the Place for Neal:

Phenom: What made UNCG the place for you in the end?
Neal: Man, since freshman year, they have shown me the most love. They want me for me, and that is something I’m grateful for.

Phenom: What will it be like for you to stay home and play in front of so many that have watched you over the years?
Neal: It is going to be crazy. I expect the whole city to be at every home game! But for real, it is just going to make me feel at home, in a Reidsville gym with hopefully so many familiar faces.

Phenom: What have they said in how they want to use you and your impact?
Neal: They want me to be me. They have had a lot of small guards come through there and have success, as well as dominate. So I want to be one of those guards.

What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Dionte projects as one of the most productive players in North Carolina again this season. A smart, quick-twitch point guard, Neal has the ability to get wherever he wants off the bounce. He’s a reliable shooter with his feet set, crafty enough to finish over length, and applies pressure defensively with his activity. Neal is also a sharp passer who keeps the ball moving while serving as a steady scoring option. With the ball in his hands often, expect him to be a focal point for Reidsville and a tough matchup for opponents all year.”

“The most accomplished player in North Carolina and a leader for every team he’s on, Neal is able to consistently elevate those around him. Smart, shifty guard who sets the tone through his quickness, penetration ability, and balance between scoring and playmaking. Despite his lack of size, Neal is simply someone who can be trusted to run a team at the highest level. Like his teammate above, his only high school loss was the state championship as a freshman.”

“Neal’s overall impact is truly special; he does an excellent job in running the show, displaying high IQ and feel, elite speed to get by defenders, the willingness to create and make plays for himself, score in all areas of the court, and understands how to get everyone else involved. You WANT him to run the ship for your program, and that doesn’t even mention the impact he brings on the defensive end. Neal is scrappy, relentless, and confident on the court, creating problems for opponents on both sides of the court. In simple terms, he is one who simply seems to be in control of the game all over, a true leader. This is why we are here again to say, that this is a young man college programs should be flocking to. Neal will help programs win games, he will help lead the team, and he will be a difference-maker no matter where he is and on both sides of the court.”

“Starting off, we look at a player who consistently propels winning in all possible settings, Dionte Neal. He’s a smart, unselfish point guard prospect with toughness, quickness, and a polished skillset. Neal is a natural leader by example and someone who visibly understands how to dictate the action as a primary creator. He touches the paint at will and makes intelligent decisions with the ball in his hands. In addition to finishing well for his size, Neal also knocks down jumpers from midrange and beyond the arc. Defensively, he’s a terrific on-ball defender who intercepts passing lanes and forces turnovers at a strong rate. Next in his development process is working on getting stronger, as it would make him a more imposing player. Coach Paris on Neal: “Dionte is a very quick guard who can create for others. He has the ability to knock down the three-pointer as well. True floor general who controls the offense.” Neal did a lot of things well during camp and should certainly maintain his status as one of the most winningest players across the state.”
