It is that time of year, as teams from all over the state will participate in the upcoming Hoop State Fall League, preparing for the upcoming season. It is a great opportunity not only for teams to gain early traction and cohesiveness, but it gives fans and scouts a chance to check out the upcoming talent and teams each will be bringing.

Gaston Christian (Fire Babies)

Gaston Christian has been a team to talk over the years at the Hoop State Fall League, and they are back again in hopes of building on something special this season. Though there will be new names helping out this team, this is a team that still brings talent back from last year, in looking to lead.

When you talk about this team, you first have to look at the true leader of this group in 2026 Cameron Newman. One of the top point guards in the state, Newman has continued to show that he can lead the offense, be an effective scorer, and be a true playmaker on the court.  He makes high-IQ decisions, can score off the bounce, get hot form outside, and penetrate and kick to find open teammates, as he looks to make one last statement as a senior.

As far as other players that come back and should help, 2027 Jeremy Duhon, 2026 Kendall Southern, 2026 Allesandro Luparia, 2026 Dillon Joy, and others will all be returning to help provide a balanced attack on the court as well as experience.

As far as other players that we are excited to learn more about.  They will be having 2027 6’8 Kumbai Makoi on the roster, as we hope to learn more about his game. And then a young, rising prospect in the Class of 2028 is 6’8 Jordan Makoi, a long, mobile big that can impact the game on both sides and has a lot of upside.  Again, though, this is a roster that has other players that we are eager to learn about, as Gaston Christian looks to bring a lot of depth to the court.
