Player: Trey Edwards
Class: 2028
Height: 6’5
School: Melissa

Back in 2024, Phenom Hoops introduced to everyone a rising star in the state of Texas in 2028 Trey Edwards, as he has been proving to be one of the premier prospects in the region. Edwards is a prospect that would describe his game as “a combo guard who can play the point or play shooting guard.”  Schools have been coming hard already his way, adding a recent offer from TCU but that list could quickly grow with the interest coming his way. We caught up with the rising star to learn about what’s going on with him. Check out what he had to say.

Summer Recap and Focus on Upcoming Season:

“Everything went pretty well. I finished the EYBL season with 17ppg, 4rpg and 3apg. Next year I want to get my rebound average and assist average up. I took a hard fall at AAU Nationals in early July and couldn’t play in Nike EYBL Peach Jam due to a bad hip. Now, I am looking forward to go after this State Championship at Melissa HS this year.  My main focus has been getting bigger, stronger, and faster, so I’ve been in the weight room a lot lately.”

Recent Offer from TCU:

“I was very excited about the TCU offer because the coaching staff has been recruiting me since last year and I really the staff.  I really enjoyed touring the campus and seeing the locker room and weight room.”

Edwards earned the offer from TCU at the TCU Team Camp that occurred over the weekend.

Recruitment Update:

TCU has now joined the party for Edwards in his recruitment, but it seems that there are a few schools that have really been staying strong and could be standing out in his eyes.  Edwards had this to say about five schools of interest:

“These five schools have been strongly recruiting me since last year, and all have offered: Memphis, Missouri, Kansas State, NC State, and Oklahoma State.”

Right now, Edwrds has two visits set up. He will be taking a visit to Tennessee on September 13th, and then will visit Missouri in September

Though those schools may be standing out strongly for the 2028 prospect, the list of interests continues to grow. Wisconsin, Louisville, Texas, BYU, Kentucky, SMU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Baylor, and Vanderbilt have all expressed interest his way, as they could be next to jump on board with an offer.
