
After a breakout summer that turned heads, 2026 Elton James has firmly cemented himself as a rising name in recruiting circles. His consistent production, two-way versatility, and athletic upside have led to a wave of Division I offers and growing interest from several programs. With recent visits and more on the horizon, James spoke with Phenom Hoops about the latest in his recruitment, the schools showing the most love, and when he’s planning to make his final decision
Recruitment Update:
James has had a really good summer, as he really opened up eyes from all around the region about his game and production. He racked in multiple offers throughout the last few months, becoming a high priority for many schools.
When we caught up with James to talk about the latest, he mentioned that he had some schools he would like to visit, as well as just wrapping up one. “I just had a visit to Old Dominion,” James told Phenom Hoops. “I’m working with George Mason on having a visit sometime this month (August), and then working with South Florida on a visit very soon. Then just waiting on a lot more visits to come.”
James received offers from East Carolina, St. Bonaventure, George Mason, San Jose State, California, Charleston, USF, Hampton, Morehead State, Hofstra, and Old Dominion in the last two months. And as of right now in his eyes, Old Dominion, George Mason, South Florida, and Cleveland State have been the ones staying strong with him in his recruitment.
As far as a decision timeline? “I’m looking to commit sometime from September to November.”
