Tai Bell, a dynamic 2028 point guard from Florida, is quickly making a name for himself on the basketball scene. Playing for SOH Elite on the Under Armour circuit, Tai has showcased his versatile game and leadership skills while facing some of the best talent in the country. In this interview, Tai shares his thoughts on Florida basketball, his experiences with SOH Elite, the lessons he’s learned at UA Future 60, and the excitement surrounding his recent college offers.
PHR: How is basketball in Florida, and how much do you enjoy playing the sport there?
Tai Bell: “We have always been a football state but our basketball is really good now too! We have a bunch of great players and programs.”
PHR: What’s it like playing for SOH Elite on the Under Armour circuit?
Tai Bell: “SOH has been a great program to be a part of. Our practices really help me because we practice every night against our 17u. Under Armour and the UA circuit have been awesome! I love the support and the people in the UA family. The competition level is very high and it has helped me raise my level of play for sure.”
PHR: Who would you say is the best player from Florida or the Under Armour circuit that you’ve faced so far, and what was that experience like?
Tai Bell: “The best players that I’ve played are probably the Boozers. We played them in my 8th grade year. The best UA player I played was probably Shon Abaev last year in practices with SOH. It was great playing those guys because it showed me that I need to work harder if I want to get to where they are as a player.”
PHR: What are some of your biggest strengths on the court, and are there any areas of your game you feel you still need to work on or improve upon?
Tai Bell: “I think that I have a pretty solid all around game. I am a leader and a high energy guy. As a scorer, I can score on all 3 levels. I finish through contact and really like playing out of pick n roll. I scored a lot for my high school and SOH teams, but I also really enjoy setting the table and creating for others. I rebound very well for a PG! I think that I can continue to grow in all areas!”
PHR: How was your experience at the Future 60 camp, and what key takeaways did you gain from participating in that event?
Tai Bell: “UA Future 60 was really cool! It was intense and physical. I learned a bunch of stuff from the coaches and staff. My favorite part was getting to know some of the other UA players that were there that are on other teams.”
PHR: You’ve recently received offers from USF, Dayton, Kansas State, Florida A\&M, St. Bonaventure, and more. How does it feel to see your talent being recognized at that level, and are there any other schools or programs that have been reaching out to you?
Tai Bell: “It is very exciting and I am thankful for the offers that I have received. I try to keep the main thing the main thing. That means getting better every day so that I can be the best me possible. Other schools that my Coach speaks to are Purdue, Miami, VCU, and Auburn.”
