Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the state playoffs watching Piedmont! The Amazing One is here to give out his latest F5 rankings amidst the state playoffs. After the 1st round, all of the Furious 5 are still dancing with a couple of F5 collisions coming this week. The season is over for all but 1 of the DSO list, which is The Pony Express of Myers Park. Cudos to the 16-12 Stangs who started off very shaky after replacing loads of talent and losing 7 of their first 8 games, yet rebounding to take the regular season title in the SoMeck 4A. Their reward for winning their first 2 state playoff games is a trip to the top-ranked Lake Norman. Without further delay, we will now get……TO THE 5!!!!
1. LAKE NORMAN – THE LAKERS ROLLED INTO THEIR SECTIONAL FINAL BY RUDELY DISPATCHING DSO MEMBER HOPEWELL, HOSTS DSO MEMBER MYERS PARK TUESDAY.
2. WEDDINGTON – THE TRIBE PUNCHES THEIR TICKET TO THEIR SECTIONAL FINAL AT #4 NORTH MECK BY SURVIVING UPSET MINDED EAST FORSYTH.
3. INDEPENDENCE – THE PATRIOTS DODGED A MOORESVILLE BULLET IN ADVANCING TO HOST #5 CHAMBERS FOR A TRIP TO THE REGIONALS.
4. NORTH MECK – THE VIKINGS ROLLED PAST DAVIE COUNTY FOR A CHANCE TO CONTINUE THEIR 7 YEAR REGIONAL APPEARANCE STREAK AS THEY HOST #2 WEDDINGTON TUESDAY.
5. CHAMBERS – THE COUGARS WENT TO THE MOUNTAINS AND “UPSET” MCDOWELL. NOW THEY GO TO #3 INDEPENDENCE FOR A WINNER-TAKE-ALL TRIP TO THE REGIONALS.
