The second LIVE period has come and gone but there were so many players that left a terrific impression on us scouts and on coaches after their play. One of those players that comes to mind for me was the play of 2022 Neeko Taylor from Raising Young Men.
The senior guard was absolutely lighting it up in four games, where he posted scoring outputs of 30 points in Game 1, 18 points in Game 2, 20 points in Game 3, and 27 points in Game 4, while knocking down 21 threes in that span. The senior guard really shot the ball exceptionally well all weekend long, showing his ability to not only be a big threat from behind the arc but also showing his athleticism and ability to get downhill and finish. He did so with consistency, displaying his distance in scoring but attacking and getting to the basket as well; he also is a good defender, displays good instincts on the floor, and has a little bounce to his game.
We had this to say after watching Game 1: “Taylor started out a little slow but really started to come about and help his team in a big way, showing his range in knocking down six three-pointers and also penetrating the lane. He was a consistent scoring threat all game long, as he went off four 30 points to start his weekend.”
And he only continued to show his full arsenal in his game. Taylor is one that college coaches could look at late if they are looking for a scoring threat with range and athleticism. Taylor has proven that countless times over his high school career and remains an unsigned senior to watch.
Phenom Evaluation from All-American Camp:
“He’s a smart, tough, very well-rounded guard prospect with the combination of IQ, vision, and three-level scoring to find success from either backcourt position. Taylor is a great perimeter shooter with defensive prowess and the understanding of how to consistently make plays in transition… Coach Dre on Taylor: “Neeko is a legit problem! This young man has a great understanding of the game and makes high-IQ decisions. He has a great handle and can get downhill with ease. He also can make the right read when penetrating and locates the kick-out pass effectively. I like the fact that he gets above the rim and can put opponents on a poster if they are lacking. He has a lot of tools in his bag and can use them all equally. He also shoots it at a high level and can shoot off the dribble or spot-up. This kid is a gamer, a certified bucket, and has next-level potential.”
