6’3 ’17 Jackson Farr has been a name well known to the staff of the Phenom Hoop Report. He has participated in camps and played in countless Phenom Hoop tournaments over the past two summers. This past summer, Jackson played for Pro Skills Select and was an important member of the team. As a matter of fact, Jackson was named game MVP in two games where he scored 27 and 19 points at our Summer Havoc tournament.
Jackson has established a lofty reputation as a knock down perimeter shooter. He has a terrific work ethic and has improved in all aspects of his game. He has steadily increased his value and contribution for his high school team. (Charlotte Latin) In one of his biggest games of the year last season, Jackson scored a team high 20 points including 5-7 from the 3-point line. This performance helped Charlotte Latin’s upset win over Cannon in the NCISA state playoffs.
Last season, he was also named one of the Charlotte Observer’s top performers in February. In his first two seasons of varsity basketball at Charlotte Latin, Jackson shot an impressive 46% from the 3-point line.
Season Preparation
In preparation for the upcoming season in the tough NCISA 3A, he has been committed to being the best he can become. He is working hard on the hardwood and in the weight room. Currently, he is doing two-a-day workouts, lifting, and agility training in the morning. He enters this year as co-captain of the team and we expect more great things. Muggsy Bogues stated, “Jackson is such a hard worker very unselfish player great shooter hard defender and wants to get better on defense. Great teammate and amazing student athlete! A coach’s dream.”
Summer Travel Ball
This past summer, Jackson played with the PSB Select team and had a solid, successful, and productive season. Brendon Winters, Director of PSB, stated, “Jackson is one of the best shooters and hardest workers we have ever had in our program. He is working his tail off to continue to become a better all around player as well. I have no doubt that he will greatly help whatever college team he ends up playing for at the next level.”
At the end of the busy travel ball season, Jackson had the opportunity to participate in several Ivy League Elite camps. So far, Jackson has scheduled visits to Vassar College and MIT with others in the work, not to mention recent interest from Ivy League schools. With his strong academic showing (4.3 GPA) and nice shooting touch, he could be a nice fit in the Ivy League. More importantly, Jackson scored an impressive 1430 (out of 1600) on his SAT.
Off the Court
Jackson is a well-rounded student athlete. He is a representative of the Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT). He is involved in his community and does volunteer work and has also worked as a coach and counselor at the Stephan Curry and Muggy Bogus basketball camp. This past summer, he was invited by the Rock Hill City Manager to be a special consultant on the design of one of the largest basketball facilities to be constructed in the Southeast. In addition, he has helped raise awareness and funds for the American Diabetes Association though the “Annual Walk” since he was in middle school.
