Howard is an extremely athletic and versatile wing whose explosive leaping ability makes him a rebounding and shot-blocking presence in the paint while his shot-making consistency out beyond the three-point arc commands the attention of defenders. He provides plenty of versatility on both ends of the floor as his capable handle and strong mobile frame allows him to bully smaller defenders but he has enough quickness and a powerful first step that often proves too quick for bigger defenders to contain.
Howard moves off the ball nicely and demonstrates very good footwork as a shooter. He is efficient on spot-ups and his range extends beyond the three-point line. His stroke is fluid and he has proven he can fill it up from deep. He has great hands and is a powerful finisher who endures contact nicely and scores at a good rate cutting to the rim. His terrific combination of hands, coordination, and touch highlight his guard skillset while his physical attributes make him a valuable interior presence. His quick burst and power attacking off the dribble is met with some creativity, touch, and physicality as a finisher.
On the defensive end, Howard proves effective both in the paint and on the perimeter. He moves his feet nicely and is mobile guarding in space while his explosive leaping ability and strength inside allow him to play bigger than 6’6. Howard helped lead Fairfax Christian to the Virginia Independent School Division III State Championship as a sophomore. I expect he will see a spike in his recruiting as he continues a strong summer for VA Playmakers.
