Last summer, Henderson Lentz collapsed while playing in a one-day team camp for North Rowan at Catawba College. He had stopped breathing and his heart had stopped beating. Once the EMS arrived, they immediately gave him electric shock to get his heart beating once again. Later in the summer, Henderson had heart surgery to implant a defibrillator that is used to enable the heart to start beating if it has stopped. In addition, Henderson had two more surgeries on November 9th and December 3rd.
Henderson worked his way back into the lineup for North Rowan and continued to make his road to full recovery. This past weekend, Henderson Lentz was a very valuable member of Team F.L.Y. travel ball team that went a perfect 5-0 and capturing the Grassroots TOC 17U Big 10 Championship. Henderson averaged double figures throughout the weekend and it was his timely shooting that was instrumental in the team’s success. In the championship game, Henderson tallied 12 points in leading Team F.L.Y. to a 65-54 championship win over Team Aggies.
