Phenom Hoops continues their Open Gym Tour, heading down to Matthews to check in on Carmel Christian. Coach Joe Badgett has himself looking for another title, as many names return from last year but they have also added some very intriguing and special talent this season. We dive into their roster from what we saw on the court. Check out the names we were impressed by.
2021 6’8 Ben Burnham
- Like to refer Burnham as “a problem,” as he can really be a tough mismatch on the court. You don’t always see a prospect with a blend of ability to score inside and out, as well as explode towards the rim. Burnham does a terrific job in moving and defending multiple positions and can get after it on the boards while also blocking shots all over. He always has been sneaky but he should be one of the leaders for this team this season.
2022 6’7 Cade Tyson
- Tyson is a smooth, skilled, and long prospect. He has terrific range with a confident shooting stroke but has continued to expand his game. After playing and consistently being the guy at Piedmont, Tyson should see more opportunities with more talent on the floor and take what he learned this summer with Team Curry, applying it to the Carmel program.
2021 6’4 Glenn Bynum
- Kind of a swiss army knife on the court, as he can really impact the game in multiple ways. Bynum though has improved with his game, shooting the ball better but continuing to be that guy that can produce without always needing the ball. His confidence with his game seems to really be on the rise.
2021 6’7 Jackson Coffey
- A 6’7 forward that moves well and does what is needed out of him. He doesn’t try to force and provides positives minutes for this team. He can knock down the mid-range shot, as well as rebound. Coffey will provide that depth down low.
2021 5’10 Bryson Pisacano
- Gritty guard that hustles on the court, provides energy off the bench, and can help handle the ball. He works really well in finding space and knocking down shots, especially from the perimeter.
2022 6’3 Justin Taylor
- Athletic point guard on the court that has a nice blend of facilitating and scoring. Taylor will be one of the go-to leaders, pushing the tempo and setting the pace, while also scoring on multiple levels on the court. Taylor plays with a nice feel in getting around defenders and sees the floor well
2022 6’4 Kyle Bean
- Bean continues to elevate his game, showing that he can knock down shots but also has some bounce to his game. He is a long, wiry prospect that will be able to step in and provide positive minutes, knock down jumpers, and plays with good instincts on the court.
2022 5’9 Julian Arias
- Another tough guard that hustles and has a tremendous motor. Always seems to be active on both ends and can just be a pesky defender. Arias plays with a good feel in finding his teammates and playing his role on the court.
2022 6’8 Luke Krawczyk
- The big man is one to watch this season, as Krawczyk can step out and moves well in pick and roll situations, as well as in help defense. He also shows good hands that finishes well around the rim and gets on the boards. Plays with a good IQ and understanding, and is always active in the paint.
