Xzavion Walton 6’4 166 2023 Greensville County HS, Emporia VA / Team Flight AAU
Xzavion Walton is one of the better shooters in Virginia’s 2023 class! He has a smooth and disciplined stroke, excellent footwork, and a lightning-quick release. He can knock down catch and shoot jumpers from well beyond the arc at an impressive rate moving instinctively off the ball to get open. A lefty shooter with repeatable mechanics, high release, gets great arc on his jumper and has ridiculous range. Very good shooting off one dribble pull-ups! Xzavion has an ideal basketball frame at a still growing 6’4 with long arms and legs. He uses good quickness, length and rangy strides attacking off the dribble and has pretty good quickness and shiftiness negotiating his way through the lane, he’s slippery! He demonstrates excellent body control side-stepping defenders and his touch around the rim is superb.
Xzavion has very good speed and a solid handle. He can get downhill in a hurry and attacks the basket fearlessly. He is a fantastic athlete and an excellent leaper. Xzavion is quick off his feet, shows plenty of defensive versatility. He guards either wing using sound footwork, lateral quickness and has the length and toughness to engage bigger players around the basket. Xzavion plays for his uncle, Greensville County Head Basketball Coach, and former Virginia Union star Antwan Walton who helped lead the Virginia Union Panthers to back to back CIAA titles and the 2005 DII National Championship. Xzavion is joined on the Greensville County High School roster by cousin Antwan Walton a promising and versatile 6’6 rebounder and shot-blocker who can also stroke the three. His other cousin is fellow sophomore Tayshaun Walton, a University of Miami baseball commit!
Xzavion should have a breakout season in 2021 on a team that could challenge for a state title in VHSL Group 2 as they return key members from last season’s 23-5 team that won the Tri-Rivers District with a 16-1 league record. Greensville County lost in the Region A semifinals. Xzavion’s combination of length, shot-making prowess, and ability to slash into the paint and finish at the rim makes for a tough matchup and makes him a prospect worthy of attention from college coaches.
