Trey Wertz set to make announcement

Trey Wertz has informed Phenom Hoops that he will be making his college decision Saturday afternoon. Since he entered the NCAA transfer portal, Wertz has been one of the hottest available transfer prospects. Standing a lengthy 6’5, Wertz is a high IQ, fundamentally sound guard that has transitioned from the shooting guard to point guard position. As a freshman, he averaged 32.7 minutes per game, 12.2 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game and 4.7 assists per game. His sophomore season was equally impressive where he averaged 28.6 minutes per game, 11.9 points per game, 3.5 assists per game and 3.9 assists per game. He shot 48.9% from the floor, 40% from the 3-point line and 75.7% from the free throw line.
In speaking with Wertz, he has narrowed the list to four schools. Below are comments he made about each school. (Listed alphabetically)
Arizona: “I’ve had good talks with Coach Miller. He does a good job of developing guards and told me how I would fit in.”
Butler: “The whole staff has been great. They’ve told me exactly how I would fit in and how I could come in and help the team. They have really great academics as well.”
North Carolina: “They have always been my dream school growing up. Coach Williams stated they need shooters and I could really fill that role.”
Notre Dame: “They play with a lot of guards and allow freedom on offense. Also, they have high academics.”
