Mahir is a tremendous athlete and a talented and skilled basketball player. He has powerful legs that create quick bursts and afford him the ability to change speeds and directions abruptly. He has quick and creative ball handling skills and slices through traffic in an elusive manner and can finish at the rim with both hands. In the open floor he is downright deadly pushing the ball with excellent speed, looking ahead to make a play and a solid handle allowing him to make a dribble move and not lose stride or quickness. Mahir’s ability to win the one on one and get into the lane compliments his ability to step into the three point jumper or hit shots coming off screens with good consistency making him a multi level scoring threat. He has a high release on a silky smooth jumper with sound mechanics, and fights through contact to get his shot off. He does a great job creating separation and most often manufactures space with the threat of his blow by quickness and quick elevation into his shot. Mahir uses dribble hesitations, aggressive stops and starts, quick crossovers and behind the back dribble moves accompanied by his quick burst to leave defenders in his wake. He is a smart and skilled passer, demonstrates sound vision and playmaking skills in addition to his ability to finish in crafty fashion at the rim. Mahir is an elite level defender with quick, active hands and feet. His lateral quickness makes him a very suffocating defender and his speed and high motor allows him to impact games on both ends of the floor, one of the better two-way players in the state! And may I mention he’s deadly in passing lanes with great anticipation skills and quickness. Mahir should establish himself among the state’s best point guards and should be on the watch list of college coaches at the DI and DII levels!
