Prohlific Park Stand Outs
Saturday May 26 was the kick off for the David Rose MDC Tournament. We had some outstanding talent at Prohlific Park. Here are a few guys that I thought stood out on court 3. Phenom is a great platform for these guys to display their God given talents. Here are a few guys that stood out on the day.
Jayden Turner 6’4 2019 (New Light Discipline)
Jayden has a great motor. He does a great job of running the floor and getting out on the break in transition for easy layups and dunks. Because he has very good length he is able to guard small players and contest jump shots. Plays above the rim and does a great job on the offensive boards giving his team extra possessions. He also uses his length and great instincts to block shots.
Trent McIntre 6’4 (New Light Discipline)
Played really well in the first game of the evening. Did a good job of distributing the ball to his teammates. He never over dribbles the basketball like most guards do. He always surveying the floor looking for the right play. After he passes the ball you don’t ever find him standing in one spot waiting for the ball to come back to him. He cuts to the basket where he is looking for a pass for a layup or he will go in the paint to post up smaller defenders. For a point guard he is very active on the offensive and defensive glass. Plays hard and has great passion for the game.
2019 6’1 Nasir Johnson (Carolina Knights 17u)
Nasir is at best when he is on the break in transition. He does a good job of getting to the basket and finish shots under pressure from the defender. He does a good job of finishing with either hand. He’s a two-way player does a good job of sitting down on defense. He communicates on the floor with his teammates and enjoys sharing the ball. D2 schools looking for a combo guard should give him a good look.
Demitrios Dixion (Charlotte Nets 17u)
Silky smooth point guard that knows how to run a team. He was very good in getting his teammates in and out of the sets. He made great plays all game. Getting teammates involved spreading the floor penetrating to the basket. Dixion has a very high IQ and know how to play.
Webster Filmore 6’7 (Charlotte Nets 17u)
Webster is a very skilly athletic big that runs the floor like a deer. He likes to finish above the rim with strong two-handed dunks. He plays with in the system and never looks to get rattled. Understand floor spacing when he gets the ball in the post he is always looking to find open teammates off double teams. He did a very good job of challenging and blocking shots on the defensive end of the floor. Has the potential to be a D1 big.
Taurus Ragin 2019 6’7 (Charlotte Nets 17u)
Good feet very good rebounder runs the floor has great hands high iq communicates with his team in defense makes sure they are in the right spots
