We continue into the second game of the afternoon, this time as we went into the 6A NCHSAA Division, where Terry Sanford and Northern Guilford met. Two of the top teams in the state looked for a state title on Thursday down in Wednesday, and it was a thrilling matchup.

It was a tight battle early on in the first quarter, with Northern Guilford jumping out early, but Terry Sanford being able to bounce right back as we were tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter. Terry Sanford though started to get things going in the second half, with their offense clicking and take the narrow fight point lead into halftime.  They expanded on that lead quickly, leading by as many as eight points early but Northern Guilford responded well, eventually tying the game midway through the quarter.

Leena McField came up big towards the end of the third quarter, giving Northern Guilford a late lead heading into the fourth quarter. That was the momentum Northern Guilford needed, as they continued to expand their lead little by little in the quarter, eventually outscoring Terry Sanford 19-11 in the quarter.

In the end, it was a strong second half from Northern Guilford who battled back after halftime and rode that momentum into a state title. Terry Sanfrod was strong on the boards and was active throughout, as they shot 21 more attempts in the game. However, Northern Guilford was able to get to the free-throw line 34 times in this game, compared to 12 for Terry Sanford.
