The Phenom Post Grad/Prep Nationals always bring some intriguing new names to the courts for our scouts at Phenom Hoops, but this year may have been the most surprising event in regards of players that are still unsigned and could help a future program.
A player that we wanted to highlight more was 2026 6’7 Jacob Wrencher with Middle Georgia Prep, as he has the tools within his game to be a D1 contributor. Wrencher is one who can score it from multiple levels with ease. He grabs your attention with his length and size, along with his comfort level in getting to his spots and being a true perimeter threat from three. He also has intrigue with his ability to create off the bounce, score around defenders, and move well without the ball, as the wing prospect proves to be an effective scorer from all levels. He plays well within the game, making smart decisions, taking what is given, and impacting the game in other ways on the glass and defensively.
Right now, he holds a few offers but I do believe he could be a legit steal for a D1 program, especially as he continues to develop and adjust. In talking with Wrencher, he has heard interest from Kennesaw State, UMass-Lowell, Cal Poly, Portland, Central Michigan, and New Hampshire.
With the portal rapidly expanding, a program that is looking for a tremendous piece that is still available, Wrencher could be that guy.
What Was Said:
“2026 6’7 Jacob Wrencher (Middle Georgia Prep) has to be enticing with his size and overall skillset. As a shooting guard, he is one that can fill it up from outside, scoring well over defenders, hunting for his shot from the perimeter, but also attacking off the bounce and finishing over defenders. Good overall presence on both sides of the ball.” – Patrick O’Brien
