Players rarely come out of nowhere to be prospects. Many times they show the skill set but it takes the time to grow into the frames. If you watch closely, with most, you can tell early they “are going to be real good”. Such is the case with 6’7” 2018 Dravon Mangum of Person High School.

Mangum has come to Phenom Hoops events throughout the years and he has always shown a lot of intrigue. Mangum has always whet the whistle with his combination of length, size and skill set. Well at no time is that more evident than current day.

Still a bit raw, Mangum has shot up to 6’7”. He still has the incredible length, with a seven foot wing span, and the ball skills to step out and make plays from the wing. Mangum is a gazelle in transition as he fills the wings and finishes high above the rim and defensively he is able to guard multiple positions from the two to the four.

After his performance at Phenom’s Grassroots Tip Off Live this April we wrote, “If we are buying stock, 6’7” 2018 Dravon Mangum of the NC Red Storm is getting a long look. His best basketball will clearly be played in college.”

After watching Mangum play last year in Phenom’s CP3 Live we wrote, “Mangum is a long, smooth and athletic prospect. He is able to play the one, two and three positions. There is huge upside for this rising junior.”

After his play at Phenom’s Grassroots Tip Off Live, Mangum has received phone calls from the likes of Radford, Campbell, Western Carolina, Canisius, Army, Kennesaw State, VMI and a handful of other schools. Watch closely in July and expect that interest to quickly turn into offers while other schools become massively intrigued by this young man.
