So many people already know about the talent in the Class of 2027 and 2028, which is why we are talking early about prospects in the Class of 2029 that you will be hearing more about in the coming years. Though they are just starting their story, players are already garnering early recognition from national outlets and are showing why they have a chance to be something special.
Getting a viewing of Indiana Elite, a program that has steadily produced talent over the years, I was highly impressed with what 2029 5’11 Will Tonagel was able to showcase on the court in leading his team. Clearly, a high-IQ point guard that understands how to run the show offensively, Tonagel was able to be an impact player in so many areas and on both sides of the ball.
When you talk about his offensive game, he plays with such feel and pace, making strong reads, waiting for plays to develop, making the right passes, and being a playmaker for others. On top of being a creator for others, he can flourish with his scoring as well, understanding how to finish over or around bigger defenders, being a weapon from the perimeter, and attacking well in the open floor. Defensively, he just has a knack for getting in the passing lanes and allowing his defense to help turn into offense.
All this is backed up by his stats, as he is one of the top assist leaders on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, as well as one of the top 3-point shooters, one of the leaders in steals, and a Top 20 scorer so far. He clearly has shown himself to be an impact point guard on the court, as he has Indiana Elite sitting on top early on this season. After watching him, he should be a hot target for several schools in the coming years.
